Credibility comes with dirty hands: 4 years consistency speaks volumesEvery Sunday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. four teams of dedicated volunteers selflessly prepare and provide a hot meal to the homeless and those in need from Mission and surrounding communities out of our New Heights Church office. Consistently, between 50 and 60 people show up for food, games, movie nights, and company. However, they receive even more. Our volunteers provide them with acceptance, guidance, support, help and a message from God to give to one another, love one another and help one another regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, appearance, or social status. Our volunteers have gone above and beyond all expectations in their desire to help and serve God. This has included giving sleeping bags and tents to homeless men and women who have not had accommodations, driving people to the hospital who need medical assistance, providing clothing and personal hygiene items to those in need, etc. The following is a statement from one of our volunteers: "I wanted to find something to do to give back to the community and serve God. But, I did not know what to do. When I became aware of Street Church, I was not sure if it was for me. I was scared and did not know what to expect. However, my first day was amazing. I worked with a great team of volunteers and met some great people. Those in need showed up early to help set up and stayed late to clean up. I enjoyed interacting with them, sharing stories and getting to know them. I found out that it was not scary. It felt amazing to be able to help out in such an important way. I have looked forward to every Sunday at Street Church since this time. I cannot describe in words how great it is to be involved with such an important cause." Our New Heights Church Team is made up of people from all ages and backgrounds.
